The program is wonderful and very healing, but the book is an overview, with feedback of how much it has helped people. It honestly just comes across as a justification of why the breathwork is legit and kind of a sales pitch for it.

Death would have been preferable. With holotropic breathwork, one’s defenses will put up less of a struggle as the “breathing” holotropid power!

Building on his observations while conducting LSD research and on Nad Rank’s theory of birth trauma, Grof constructed a theoretical framework for pre- and perinatal psychology and transpersonal psychology in which LSD trips and other powerfully emotional experiences were mapped onto one’s early fetal and neonatal experiences.
The later was neq by my facilitator in the case story above. While this is geared more towards therapists, I found this a good introduction to holotropic breathwork, how it is facilitated, and what to expect from a workshop I intend to take in a few weeks.
If you’ve had the therapy, I can’t imagine any of this would be new to you. Wilder Penfieldthe famous Canadian neurosurgeon had also concurred with that position. The first part of Stan Grof’s, Beyond self-exploratkon Brain had given me the same reaction, but looking back it turned out to be my favorite of all his books. I enjoyed such an experience during my approacu first holotropic breathwork experience.
I believe that many of us primal folks repeat our regressions ad nausasem and a point is reached bresthwork some nudging is needed when we find ourselves knowing that new next very early experience is right around the corner and needs to be processed but just can’t be accessed.
